Police backed on photo ban of APEC fence - Breaking News - National - Breaking News

Requiring tourists to delete happy snaps of Sydney's APEC security fence may be "over the top" but it is necessary, NSW Transport Minister John Watkins says.

He was responding to news reports that three German tourists were asked by police to delete digital photographs of the newly built fence, which stretches five kilometres through Sydney's CBD.

He said the move was part of the efforts to ensure there was no breach during the major protests expected later this week.

So now we can't take photos of the fence that has been erected throughout the northern end of the CBD. At least the German backpackers should be familiar with this style of government.

  1. Just to demonstrate how stupid John Watkins is, I wandered the streets in the CBD yesterday, taking, along with dozens of tourists and locals, photographs of the fence, police cars, cell buses, police, the fence, attendees at the conference and hotels such as the Wentworth and Sheraton.
